On November 7, 2011, Denver Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Peter Edward VanVolkinburg, (DOB 12/27/78) for 2nd Degree Assault to a Police Officer-Class 3 Felony.
On November 7, 2011, at 9:58 a.m. a Denver Police Officer traveling in the area of 29th and Downing Street spotted a vehicle wanted in connection with a Hit and Run Accident in the Denver. The officer pulled the vehicle over and contacted the driver identified as Peter VanVolkinburg. The officers was in the process of putting handcuffs on VanVolkinburg when he resisted injuring the officer. He fled on foot westbound from the scene towards Curtis Park. He was last seen wearing a blue and white checkered shirt and he has a handcuff on his right wrist.

The Officer was transported to Denver Health Medical Center with a broken hand.
