Dear Pastor and church family,
It is always difficult to put our activities, blessings, and hardships into words. But, God’s grace is amazing! It is awesome to realize that each of us, in our corner of ministry, is blessed to be a part of God’s eternal plan. So many times we fall short in our humanity, and yet, God chooses to use us just the same. It is at that moment of time, when we realize that what has just been accomplished is because of the prayers and support of people like you. God has just asked us to be available, and He will work through us.
We have, over the last three months, averaged 100+ in attendance weekly and have baptized thirty for the year. During May alone, twenty-four were baptized. We have also experienced many difficult times in the last couple months. The most shocking was the loss of a young man in our church, whose life was taken by his girlfriend in one rash, angry moment. We had worked with this couple and believed much progress was being made. Even though Satan meant this for evil, God meant it for good. Joseph shared similar trials: “And Joseph said unto them, ‘Fear not: for [am] I in the place of God’? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; [but] God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as [it is] this day, to save much people alive (Gen. 50:19-20).” Through this tragedy, I was given an opportunity to preach to nearly 500 people at the funeral, and many were saved. This young man’s father was saved as well. Each of these circumstances has paved the way for an upcoming radio ministry on Black Gospel Radio station KLDC (1220 AM and internet).
Another difficulty was that our truck was totaled while I was leading a home Bible study. Someone sped through a side street, missing the stop sign and accidentally hit the truck. Our truck has been a great asset to our food ministry, so thankfully, insurance money was provided towards a replacement truck.
On June 7th we celebrated our 8th Anniversary as a church, with 157 in attendance. We enjoyed the message and time spent with Pastor Bill Jividen and his wife Claire. A good number in our congregation were able to share memories of our early years. Please pray for the families of our church, especially the family of the young man already mentioned. Thank you for your help and prayers.
We also need your help gaining funds for our annual school supply drive. Even though the distribution date is in August, the money is needed now so that Kathleen can take advantage of sales.
Sincerely,
Pastor Loren Richmond and Family
