This is the link to the DRAFT of the New Zoning Code. The time is now for everyone who owns a home or business to become involved with the upcoming meetings this summer. There is one meeting scheduled for our Council District to look and and offer comments regarding the Mapping of our Zones. (June 24, from 6 – 9 p.m.) The place is yet to be announced.
Each Council District will have meetings about the new code. Every Zone Code will change. In some cases what you can do with your land will change too. Each District may have needs and desires that are different from another District. You are encouraged to attend these other District meetings to observe and learn how the new code proposes to meet their needs. We all have a voice in this process and you are encouraged to bring your questions and comments to the District 8 meeting on June 24th.
Our neighborhoods (Clayton / Skyland) are a mix of Urban and Urban Edge typology. There are six neighborhood typologies. (I have had a glimpse of the proposed map for our neighborhoods and see that it may need some minor corrections / tweaking.)
There is no doubt that this new code is attempting to take into account how to use our land and homes to help the City grow and thrive for the next 50 years or so. This is a good and honorable attempt, however without YOUR input, the Planning Department can only guess and plan based on the big picture.
As your Zoning Representative for NCPCA (Skyland), I have scheduled an educational meeting / discussion on Thursday, June 18th from 6:30 – 8:00p.m. to help you learn more about the New Zoning Code and how it may affect our community. All District 8 neighbors are welcome to attend. Please call 303.832.6421 or email Penelope.Zeller@gmail.com for location information.
