NCPCA Volunteers support Denver Digs Trees Program

The Deadline for submitting request forms for a FREE street tree under the Denver Digs Trees Program (a collaboration of the Park People and the Denver Forestry Department) is fast approaching. These trees are normally $25.00 dollars, but because North City Park/Skyland has one of the lowest percentages of tree canopy in the city, the $25.00 fee is waived for street trees in our neighborhood. To help support the program NCPCA volunteers are providing a distribution point in our neighborhood for those who do not want to drive to the designated pick-up point for their tree(s). In addition, if you need assistance in planting your tree(s) our volunteers are available to assist you to do that. APPLICATIONS FOR FREE STREET TREES ARE DUE IN TO THE PARK PEOPLE BY MARCH 16, 2009.

If you just want to get a request form and will pick up your own tree at the city designated pick-up point and you do not need the assistance of NCPCA you can get one at www.theparkpeople.org, or by calling 303-722-6262, or by e-mail to info@theparkpeople.org. If you do want to have the assistance of NCPCA volunteers in getting your tree to our neighborhood distribution point here’s how it works:

1. Obtain a request form at www.theparkpeople.org or by email at info@theparkpeople.org or by calling David Goens at 720-435-8825 or emailing him at davidterrellgoens@yahoo.com. David has request forms available and will drop one off at your door upon request.

2. When you fill out your Request Form on the line where it states – How did you hear about the Denver Digs Trees Program‚ please write in the words, NCPCA/Skyland Volunteers.

3. Drop your completed Request Form off at David’s home at 3235 E. 28th Ave. or call or email him and he will pick up your completed Request Form at your home. ALL Request Forms must be in David’s hands no later than Sunday, March 15. We will then transfer all Request Forms together to the Park People by Fax.

4. Once you have received confirmation from The Park People that your request has been approved and how many and what varieties of trees you will receive please call David or email him to let him know what and how many trees you have been approved for.

5. NCPCA volunteers will pick up trees at the City designated pick-up point and deliver them to our neighborhood distribution point at the home of Clara Morris, 2700 York St. on April 18, 2009.

6. You may pick up your tree at Clara’s home or if you want your tree delivered to your door, or you need assistance in planting your trees, please call or email David and he will coordinate with Clara and other volunteers to make it happen for you.

If you have any questions, please call or email David at 720-435-8825 or email him at davidterrellgoens@yahoo.com.

  1. Not that I’m impressed a lot, but this is more than I expected when I stumpled upon a link on Digg telling that the info is quite decent. Thanks.
