Please join your neighbors in this first step of the democratic process for the 2008 election cycle.
What is a Caucus, anyway? At Caucuses we:
1. Vote in a Preference Poll for Presidential and US Senate Candidates
2. Send delegates and alternates to the County Assembly and Convention based on the results of the preference polls.
3. Straw Polls might also be taken in local races.
4. Select the Precinct Committee People to serve for the next two years.
5. Introduce resolutions that could be passed up through the party to be included in the Platform of the Colorado Democratic Party.
6. Any person wishing to run to be a delegate to the National Convention must attend their Caucus.
IMPORTANT PRECINCT INFORMATION FOR NORTH CITY PARK
Here is a direct link to find out what precinct you are in: http://www.sos.state.co.us/Voter/voterHome.do
Your precinct will be the last three digits of the number in the Precinct Number Field.
Most of North City Park lies in precincts 813, 814, and 815, and a tiny part of 805
The breakdown is as follows:
Precinct 813: York to Fillmore, 26th to MLK
Precinct 814: Fillmore to Cook, 26th to MLK
Precinct 815: Adams/Cook to Colorado, 26th to MLK
Precinct 805: Adams to Richard Allen Court, 31st to MLK
For All of the above precincts OUR polling place is Bruce Randolph Middle School at 3955 Steele Street, on the corner of Steele and 40th.
The Caucus STARTS and DOORS CLOSE AT 7pm. Please try to arrive at or around 6, to ensure you have enough time to sign up. Please bring your photo ID. There will be a LOT of people here. Precincts 803-809 and 813-815 will be also caucusing at this location. In addition to NCP, that covers North Park Hill all the way East to Monaco, Martin Luther King Blvd North to Smith Road, and some parts of Stapleton. Plan Ahead!
I will have more information on what we can do to get the word out in our neighborhood. I am hoping to organize a call list and/or walking the neighborhood to go door to door to ask people to make sure they attend their caucus.
Remember, your voice counts. You can make a change.
